Project Management Assistant

Berkley, Michigan - PM Environmental, Inc. (PM) is looking for a talented Project Management Assistant (PMA) to join our team, preferably in one of our mid-west offices. PM is a growing, 20+ year old environmental and engineering services company with offices in over 10 states. The PMA will report to the Assistant Controller.

The PMA provides administrative assistance and Deltek Vision project management support while exercising a high degree of initiative, discretion, and independent judgment, including confidential work, to the project managers, completing tasks as assigned. On all counts, respect the boundaries and realize when you must defer to the assistant controller or project manager.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform important administrative functions for the project manager
  • Create, format, and manage the preparation of reports and contract documentation
  • Coordinating travel arrangements for project manager and team as needed
  • Handle filing, incoming faxes and answer multiple phone system
  • Communicate with clients via telephone/email, as requested by project manager
  • Perform accounting software functions (Deltek Vision) as well as project setups, financial project reporting and invoicing responsibilities
  • Photocopying, binding and distributing correspondence
  • Handle filing, incoming faxes and answer multiple phone system
  • Training new hires within the department, as directed by Assistant Controller

Desired Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a professional and maintain a strict level of confidentiality at all times

Environmental Compliance Technician

Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Decatur/Birmingham, Alabama and Charlotte, North Carolina - PM Environmental, Inc. (PM) is looking for talented Environmental Compliance Technicians to join our teams in Murfreesboro, Tennessee (or surrounding area) and Charlotte, North Carolina. PM is a growing, 20+ year old environmental and engineering services company with offices in over 10 states. The Environmental Compliance Technician will report to the Manager, Environmental Compliance Services in our Mid-South Region.

This position typically consists of a split between office and field duties. Field duties include site service calls and repairs. This will require you to be on call for covered service lines 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Office work includes project coordination, data management, completion of service orders, accurate parts and inventory allocation and client maintenance.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand why the project is being completed and who PM’s customer is. For example, PM could be working for the owner, a potential buyer, a bank, a regulatory agency, etc
  • Review and thoroughly evaluate project work orders to verify the adequacy of the scope of work to assure the objectives of the project are being met
  • Ensure that all steps and procedures are taken according to industry standards and PM standards and that all work is completed as planned and scheduled. This includes keeping the client informed of the on-going status of a project
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are in place, utilities are marked by One Call and/or other utility marking companies prior to any excavations
  • Prepare high quality paperwork / documentation – ensure that all paperwork is completed per industry and PM standards
  • Control Costs – as part of the management of each project, ensure that costs are kept in line with the original budget for time, travel, and material expenses. Discuss variations with the Group Manager and issue project change notices to reflect agreed-upon changes
  • Maximize Project Profitability – Through appropriate project budgeting / pricing, utilization of resources and cost controls, maximize the profit margin on individual projects
  • Periodically attend training workshops, conferences, presentations, etc.
  • Review any internal standard memos, organizational or structural changes for PM and keep track of any changes that may impact the projects that the technician is working on. This includes template changes, organizational changes, and client final product information (i.e., number of reports required, checklists for final reports required, etc.)
  • Be a Public Relations Ambassador – Be proactive in presenting and communicating the capabilities and strengths of the company to the public
  • Communicate Opportunities – Communicate / present potential new business or resource information, competitive situations, or technology / regulatory factors to the Group Manager

Desired Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent, is required
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience working with petroleum equipment and ancillary systems
  • Previous experience with gasoline dispensers and Automatic Tank Gauge certifications is preferred
  • Vacuum tank and construction experience are also preferred

Project Manager/Industrial Hygienist

Birmingham, Alabama - PM Environmental, Inc. (PM) is looking for a Project Manager/Industrial Hygienist to work out of our Birmingham, Alabama regional office. PM is a growing 20+ year old environmental consulting firm with offices nationwide.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Overall project management and report writing
  • Performing asbestos, lead, and hazardous materials inspections and surveys
  • Responsible for abatement oversight and air monitoring
  • Writing high quality, technical reports

Desired Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies, Geology, or related field is preferred
  • NIOSH 582 Certification
  • Alabama Asbestos Inspector License is required; certifications in other Southeast states is preferred
  • Alabama Lead Inspector / Risk Assessor is preferred, but not required
  • At least 2 years of experience with building material surveys, asbestos abatement oversight and air monitoring

Due Diligence Environmental Professional

Birmingham, Alabama or Murfreesboro, Tennessee - PM Environmental, Inc. (PM) is looking for a talented Due Diligence Environmental Professional to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama or Murfreesboro, Tennessee. PM is a growing, 20+ year old environmental and engineering services company with offices in over 10 states. The Due Diligence Environmental Professional will report to the Mid-West Region Due Diligence Manager.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Completion of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and related Due Diligence Projects
  • Provide high quality Environmental Site Assessment reports by ensuring that reports are complete to industry and PM standards
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Site walks
  • Project coordination

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology or Related field
  • Up to 5 years of experience in Environmental Consulting; experience with Phase I ESAs preferred. Candidates that meet all other requirements, but have no experience, may be considered.

Field Technician

Lansing and Berkley, Michigan - PM Environmental, Inc. (PM) is looking for a talented Field Technician to work with our Site Investigation Services / Field Services Department. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Prior to mobilizing to a project site, meets with the Field Project Manager and assigned field crew staff to go over the project to make sure everyone is clear regarding the scope of work, health and safety issues, schedule and budget
  • If questions/concerns exist, the field staff should discuss their concerns with the Field Project Manager and attempt to resolve them. If they cannot be resolved they should be immediately communicated with the Manager of Field Services
  • Understand why the project is being completed and who PM’s customer is. For example PM could be working for the owner, a potential buyer, a bank, a regulatory agency (i.e. State of Michigan funded projects), etc.
  • If irregularities exist between actual site conditions and those provided in the scope of work that could impact the proper completion of the proposed scope of work, result in damage to utilities, UST systems, buildings, etc. or result in health and safety issues, the Field Project Manager should immediately be notified
  • As needed, attend project kickoff meetings with the Field Project Manager and any subcontractors or contractors that will be working at the project site concurrently with PM to go over the scope of work, determine if inaccuracies exist between provided diagrams and actual site conditions, locations of utilities, site buildings and property boundaries, identify proposed soil boring locations, existing monitoring wells, proposed excavation limits and other site features
  • Under no circumstances should field work be implemented at the location of the irregularity, instead field work should start at a location at the project site where conditions are similar to those known to be present
  • In the event of a crisis at a project site (i.e. injury, damage to a utility or UST system, etc.) or upon encountering unknown site conditions, immediately secure the project site, notify the site contact, call the Field Project Manager to discuss the situation to determine the next appropriate course of action
  • After completion of projects, periodically attend meetings with the Field Project Manager and/or Manager of Field Services to discuss how the project was completed, to identify potential issues/defects, and to suggest methods to resolve the issues/defects and/or improve quality

Qualifications

  • Entry level position requiring no professional experience
  • Must be able to handle the physical demands of working outdoors in all climates and weather conditions, and must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be available for overtime and travel
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • 40-hour OSHA Hazwopper 29 CFR 1910.120 training desired
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License desired. Must be able to obtain within 60 days of employment

Entry Level Architectural Consultant

Berkley, Michigan and Tampa, Florida - PM Environmental, Inc. (PM) is presently seeking candidates with a strong background in architecture, engineering and construction to perform diverse third-party building evaluations, such as property condition assessments (PCAs), architectural document & cost reviews, and construction loan monitoring.

Education

  • Minimum 4-year architectural, engineering, or construction related degree, e.g. Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering, or related discipline
  • Alternatively, a 2-year Associates Degree in Construction, Building Science, or Building Facilities Management may be considered depending on experience

Qualifications

  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Job Requirements

  • Applicant must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time (local and nationwide), with the ability to travel on short notice (1 week or less), and occasionally work on nights or weekends
  • Valid driver’s license; hiring process will include a motor vehicle record and background check
  • Proficiency utilizing current software, such as Microsoft Office programs

Physical Demands

  • Ability to climb a ladder and access building roofs, attics and crawl spaces

Senior Geologist

Roseville or Long Beach, California - PM Environmental, Inc. (PM) is looking for a a talented Senior Geologist to work primarily within our Western Region in our Roseville or Long Beach, California offices. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform all phases of environmental due diligence and site assessments including completion of soil, soil gas, and groundwater investigations and remediation
  • Completion of project initiation documents – which include detailed scopes of work, budgets, and schedule of operations
  • Provide high quality technical reports by ensuring that reports are complete to industry and PM standards
  • Assist with Site Investigation, Underground Storage Tank programs, and Remediation as needed
  • Review and evaluate the project file to verify the adequacy of the scope of work to assure objectives are being met
  • Provide senior technical reviews for a variety of documents including Phase I, II and III ESAs, proposals, etc.
  • Prepare Human Health Risk Assessments with assistance from other senior technical staff.
  • Achieve client objectives by obtaining information, evaluating concerns and needs,  and presenting recommendations
  • Assist clients in achieving and maintaining compliance with Federal, State, and/or local environmental regulations
  • Business Development duties, such as representation of the firm at Trade Shows and Conferences
  • Develop and maintain client relationships

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or Related field
  • At least 8 years of experience in Environmental Consulting; experience with Chlorinated Solvent, Petroleum, Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST), etc. assessment and remediation preferred

Architectural Consultant

Tampa, Florida, Birmingham, Alabama and/or Murfreesboro, Tennessee - PM Environmental, Inc. (PM) is looking for candidates with a strong background in architecture, engineering and construction to perform diverse third-party building evaluations such as property condition assessments (PCAs), architectural document & cost reviews, and construction loan monitoring.

Duties will include:

  • Performing diverse third-party building evaluations, such as property condition assessments
  • Conducting field assessments of buildings in order to identify deficiencies
  • Preparing written reports according to the client's scope of work

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree Architecture, Engineering, or related technical field
  • 2 to 4 years of related experience
  • Strong organization skills and keen attention to detail
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to assess the overall physical condition of properties, investigate problematic construction materials and building systems, and estimate costs to repair or replace building construction materials, mechanical systems, or components
  • Must have available for travel up to 50% of the time
  • Experience with building commissioning, blower door air barrier testing, thermal imagery or other building forensics is desired
