John Hargraves Participates in ICSC Mississippi Brownfields Event

Developing a brownfield property in Mississippi has a better payback than most investments. That’s right, the Mississippi Redevelopment Act offers a tax rebate of 2 1/2 times your investment to clean up a contaminated property.

If this comes as a surprise, you may be interested in attending the “Infill – Filling in the Gaps” event on Feb. 8, 2017 from 9:30 to 2:00.

Hosted by the ICSC Mississippi P3 Retail Program & Government Relations Committee, the event brings together developers who have taken advantage of the Mississippi Redevelopment Act and other incentives, and the legal, environmental and construction professionals that helped make the successful retail revitalization projects happen.

Attendees will learn the ins and outs of Mississippi’s development incentives with Brownfield Coordinator William McKercher from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. Developers of successful brownfield projects, such as Lucas Simmons from Lucky Town Brewing Company and Mark Castleberry from The Mill at Mississippi State University will share their stories and discuss critical lessons learned.

Supporting legal and environmental consultants with experience in Brownfield redevelopment in the state will be on hand to answer questions and provide assistance.

“This is a great opportunity to gain knowledge on the nuts and bolts of how successful brownfield projects have worked,” said John Hargraves, P.G., Regional Manager of PM Environmental’s Brownfields Group, who be at the Consultant’s table.  “Many experts in a variety of disciplines will be there to answer questions.”

AICP members can earn Certification Maintenance (CM) credits for this activity.
