PM Environmental Inc. Launches Web Portal

PME announced today the launch of an internal Intranet Web Portal that automates and streamlines many of the company’s routine tasks. As the name “Portal” infers, the custom web based application is intended as the starting place for many of PME’s technical and business resources; initially for PME staff and eventually for PME’s customers. The initial release of the application is focused on Phase I Environmental Assessment projects and includes modules for building and accessing customer and contact databases, proposal generation, obtaining project numbers, and time logging and reporting. Future modules will address LUST, Phase II, BEA, Mold, Asbestos, Field Services, CAD, Human Resources and virtually all of PME’s project types and processes.

PME Vice President and Principal, Mike Kulka, led the development team for the application. “I wanted to use available technology to automate the routine tasks that our technical people spent time on, but didn’t add value to our customers. This application reduces errors, increases productivity and allows our professionals to spend more time on value added activities,” said Kulka.

PME teamed with software developer Softura, Inc. of Novi, Michigan in the development of the application. Softura was chosen based on their strong reputation in development of web applications and customer service. Mike Kula explained, “It was critical that the vendor we chose had the same focus on customers and quality as PME does. We found that in Softura.”

In 2006, PME plans to add a secure client log in, where clients can search for their current and historical reports, view and download reports, check project status, and request services. Mike Kulka stated, “The ability for our clients to securely download reports and check their project status on-line without having to track down a Project Manager will save both the customer’s time and that of our staff. All of these savings result in PME being able to offer a better and better product at a more and more competitive price.”

PME will be contacting many of their larger clients for input into the client side access to assure that the developed application will best meet their needs. PME’s President and Principal, Pete Bosanic, added, “Many of our clients are asking for electronic versions of reports and PME’s Web Portal will answer that trend and take it one step further, resulting in a client archive of the projects that PME has completed for them that is available with a click of a button.”
