UST Release Investigation and Corrective Action Services at a Commercial Property in Cross Plains, Tennessee

PM Environmental, Inc.’s (PM) client is a 550 unit retail gasoline station and convenience store operator with locations in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas.  The majority of their locations are in Tennessee  and Alabama where PM is the Corrective Action Contractor (CAC).

PM was contacted about a diesel release. Diesel fuel made its way to a spring system and began discharging to a wet weather spring during a major rain event. The free phase product made it three quarters of a mile downstream and was captured in a pond. PM installed a containment boom to keep any additional downstream migration from occurring and began mitigating the system working back to the release site. PM aided in coordinating with six different State, Local, and Federal Entities as well as adjacent landowners to ensure that all concerns were being addressed.

PM completed all mitigation, investigation and installation of a multi well recovery network over five acres as part of the corrective action system within a 18 month period. The remediation system has had a 96% uptime and has mitigated most of the free phase hydrocarbon (fph). PM has seen reductions from 9 feet of fph to inches of fph. PM continues routine Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the corrective action system.  Reporting and O&M will continue until all fph has been recovered.
